Barbara Evelyne Bonomo

Georgetown, Illinois – Barbara Evelyn (Brooks) Bonomo, 93, of the rural Bunsenville community of Georgetown, Illinois, died at 6:38 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Bunsenville.
Evelyn or Bobby as her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews called her, was the last born child of Harvey and Mary Felgenhauer Brooks. She was born March 14, 1929 and grew up in the small neighborhood of Riola, west of Georgetown. She attended the rural elementary school known as Fayette, then graduated in 1946 from Georgetown High School. She married Frank Ernest “Ernie” Bonomo on August 24, 1947, on the lawn of her parents’ home. Ernie predeceased her on December 17, 1980. She will be missed by her four children, daughter Carol Pate and sons, Harvey (Dorothy) Bonomo, John Bonomo, Mike (Jody) Bonomo and special niece Kaye Huber. Also survived are his grandchildren, Tina Miller, Cory (Donna) Griffith, Mandee (Ed) Buford, John M (Emily) Bonomo, Jamie (David) Parker, Justin (Katie) Bonomo, Jacob (Megan) Bonomo and Rona Lewis. Also his great-grandchildren Tifani (Ryan) Keller, Jared Miller, Haleigh (Francisco) Cardona, Riley Griffith, Bryleigh Griffith, Tyler Richards, Mylee Buford, Anor Wilson, Cheyenne Orr, Gunner and Korrine Bonomo, Harper and Lennon Bonomo and Easton Bonomo. Also great-great-grandchildren Skiler Miller and Eliana Cardona, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and brother and their spouses. Edna (Don) Jones, Eleanor (Max) Jordan, Glen (Nellie) Brooks, Wilbur Brooks and a younger brother. Also sisters-in-law and their wives Virginia (Tony) Stimac and Esther (Al) Bedinger and grandson Rusty Fitzwater.
Evelyn enjoyed collecting cookbooks, recipes, working on crafts and genealogy. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends, babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois with the Reverend James Blue officiating. She will be buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown, Illinois, next to her husband. Visiting 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Robison Chapel in Catlin.
