James Paul Chapman – Dodge City Daily Globe

DODGE CITY-James Paul Chapman, 93, died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Western Plains Medical Complex. He was born on July 25, 1928 in Butler, Oklahoma, the son of Paul and Nancy (Beeson) Chapman.

James grew up in Barry County, Missouri. He moved to Dodge City from Wichita Kansas 48 years ago.

On December 26, 1952, he married Marie Chapman in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She predeceased him on July 9, 2003. He was stationed in Germany as a diesel mechanic with the United States Army and continued as a diesel mechanic throughout his life.

James loved his family and also enjoyed volunteering, traveling and taking lots of photos on those trips. He also enjoyed doing genealogical research. The last job he had was working for the train station where he worked until November last year. Survivors include: son, Ezra Chapman and wife April, Temecula, CA; daughter, Naomi McLean, Dodge City; sister, Bonnie Stockton, Jenkins, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Steven Chapman, Garden City, Kansas, Regina Hardwick and her husband Jacob, Wheaton, Missouri, Blake Chapman and his wife Crystal, Temecula, CA, Erica McLean, Dodge City and Taylor Chapman, Temecula, CA; 8 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Sue Chapman, his brother, Alfred Chapman and his sister, Clara Daniel. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Fort. Dodge with Brother Mark Hardwick officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
