Stoughton Public Library Programs in February

ONLINE AND STREAMING SERVICES UPDATE

Stoughton Public Library now offers the Kanopy.com streaming service with your Stoughton Library Card. Visit www.stoughton.org/library for instant access to over 30,000 movies on your computer, TV and mobile devices. We also offer hoopla, a digital media service that lets you borrow movies, music, audiobooks, e-books, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet or phone. – and even on your TV! Titles can be streamed immediately or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. With Overdrive, customers can access a wide selection of popular ebooks, audiobooks and digital magazines for free. With your Stoughton card, you can borrow from this digital collection by downloading the Libby app.

LEARNING RESOURCES

The library has an excellent educational database called Niche Academy. Click on the blue Tutorials tab on the right side of our homepage to access lessons on Microsoft Office, social media platforms, ancestry.com and more. You can also learn a new language with our Mango Languages ​​program and complete your family tree with the ancestry.com genealogy service. (In late 2021, Stoughton’s access to ancestry.com reverted to library-only access).

PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Virtual book discussion with Christine. February’s selection is The Adults by Caroline Hulse. March’s selection is Heather Webber’s Midnight at the Blackbird Café. They are both available at the library, through the Old Colony library network as well as electronically on the library’s free Libby app. Also on the library’s outstanding Kindles that are available for review. Registration is mandatory. The Zoom link will be sent one day before the program.

Thursday, February 17, 6:30 to 8 p.m. In Search of Your Revolutionary War Ancestors. Join David Lambert, Chief Genealogist, American Ancestors and The New England Historic Genealogical Society on Zoom. Registration is mandatory. Registrants will receive the Zoom link one day prior to the event.

Virtual yoga classes. Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Chair yoga. Yoga poses that can be done in a chair. Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Gentle yoga. Designed specifically for those new to yoga or those interested in a gentle practice. Register once and receive the Zoom link for all yoga classes.

TEEN PROGRAMS

Wednesday, February 9, 3:45-4:45 p.m. Teen Volunteer Council (TVC). Want to be a teen leader in the library? Join TVC for a volunteer and leadership experience! Help plan teen programs and fundraisers. Register for the meeting link and more information. Open to students in grades 6-12.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

Wednesdays, February 9, 16 and 23, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Virtual Teddy Bear Storytime with Mrs. Peggy for ages 4 to 7. Join Peggy Sewcyk for a story hour! Bring a plush friend and wear your pajamas! Mandatory registration and Zoom link will be sent one hour before the program.

Thursdays and Fridays February 10-11, 17-18, 24-25, from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Virtual family story time. Join Ms. Amy and Ms. Stacey for a fun family storytime on Zoom! Participants will listen to stories, sing and dance! The stories are aimed at children ages 2-6, but all ages are welcome! Mandatory weekly registration. Sign up for one day or another. Register online and an email with the Zoom link will be sent one hour before the event.

From Tuesday February 22 to Saturday February 26. Grab and make craft kits for the February holidays. Take & Make Craft bags for children can be picked up at the loan counter. No registration is required. Each bag will have a few different varieties of crafts for kids. Recommended from 3 years old. One bag per child for the week. While stocks last.

Tuesday, February 22, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Virtual LEGO Club for ages 6 to 12. Building free games with Legos and other construction toys. Registration required. All registrants can pick up a small LEGO kit before the program. Zoom link sent an hour before the program.

Wednesday, February 23, at 2 p.m. Virtual tour with Sleeping Beauty. Princess Aurora will tell us some of her favorite stories and sing songs to all her friends. All ages are welcome for this royal event, feel free to dress up in your finest royal attire for a fun zoom tour! Registration required. Zoom link sent an hour before the program.
